People with low self-worth may tolerate poor communication, ignore their own needs, or assume they should accept less from relationships. Why does low self-worth influence relationship choices, and how can someone's view of themselves affect what they consider normal treatment from others?

Low self-worth can make someone accept treatment they normally wouldn’t because they may feel they don’t deserve better. For example, they might stay with a partner who constantly dismisses them or ignore their needs. Over time, that can become a cycle where insecurity makes unhealthy relationship choices feel normal.

Low self-worth can affect what someone believes they deserve from a relationship. They might ignore red flags, settle for little affection, or constantly worry that their partner will leave. I think the hardest part is that insecurity can make unhealthy relationships feel familiar, while a healthier relationship may initially feel uncomfortable or unfamiliar.
